The Lib Dems have voted to concrete over our countryside with 3,900+ new houses at Hall Farm. This massive new development will join Shinfield with Earley, Barkham & Arborfield, and Winnersh.

The new houses could destroy the designated local Heritage site. It would destroy our countryside and build over farmland. Thousands of trees will be lost. The development may also increase the risk of local flooding.

There are also concerns about the lack of supporting infrastructure. It would be many years before a new school could be built and there are already issues with local sewage capacity.

The significant increase in traffic is a major concern. This traffic would impact on neighbouring roads, particularly at the key access points to the new development. Studies carried out to predict the levels of traffic appear flawed. Amazingly they are based upon data from the Covid period, when vehicle numbers were much lower.

Also we have seen no plan for sustainable transport to take residents to and from existing centres, such as Wokingham and Reading.

Conservatives in the Earley & Woodley constituency remain opposed to the Hall Farm development. But we want your opinion.

Please consider the following statement... Future local development should be built on brownfield land first, to protect our countryside. It should have supporting infrastructure and be distributed fairly across Wokingham Borough.
