Yesterday following my meeting in London, another action-packed day, helping local people. Here's a quick glimpse of what we accomplished:
📚 Supporting BNO Hong Kong Residents: Addressed important questions about providing English lessons for their relatives. Education and integration are key!
🛣️ Pothole Repairs and Council Accountability: Vigorously pursuing the Council to release their two-year plan for pothole repairs. We've secured an extra £13m over 10 years from the Government for this, and I'm ensuring every penny is well-spent!
🔒 Combatting Burglary: Assisted a resident in getting advice after an attempted burglary. Ensuring our neighbourhoods are safe is a top priority.
🏞️ Improving Local Facilities: Made enquiries about facilities for adults with special needs over 18. Also, following up with RBC about the state of the Linden Road recreation area. Our community deserves the best!
Then to finish the day another council meeting, this time a staffing review at the Town Council - good to be able to help using my experience in HR.
✨ Making Real Changes: pleased to report progress on issues I've dealt with:
Improved access with a new dropped kerb for a disabled resident approved.
Support for a resident struggling with care home fees.
Better signage for Shepherds House roadworks in Earley.
Together, we're making tangible improvements in our community!
