Just back from Community and corporate overview and scrutiny. One item which got a lot of airtime was the Lib Dem litter bin change proposals which would see the number of bins reduced by up to 170.
In the belated consultation, overall 1369 people answered the question on whether they supported the reduction and only a tiny 4.24% of people did! I made the point that the bins selected for removal unfairly penalised Woodley and Earley and that removing bins would probably cost more in clean-up costs than it saved.
Norman Jorgensen proposed that scrutiny recommend to the LD executive that they scrap the proposal and this was supported by the scrutiny committee.
So more pressure is building up on the Lib Dem Executive to do the right thing and listen to residents for once!
