As part of their anti car measures we now have a clearer picture of the charges the administration plan to bring in during the coming year. These were buried in the detail of the budget documentation and were never mentioned in any speeches by the leader or the executive members.
*ON-STREET PARKING CHARGES* => to bring in £342K extra income - as revealed in Wokingham Today in September and the latest issue there is a plan ready to go to consultation. When the consultation goes live please make every effort to give your views by responding.
*CAR PARKING INCREASES AGAIN* =>to bring in £65K extra income - following the huge increases in charges last year they are at it again. The charges for 1 and 2 hours are going up again 6 months from the last increase.
*NEW PARKING CHARGES AT MUSEUM OF AVIATION* => to bring in an extra £40K income - users of the Museum and Dinton Pastures will have to pay to park here from now on.
*PEAK CHARGING FOR PARKING AT DINTON PASTURES* => as revealed in the latest Wokingham Today the administration is actively considering bringing in higher charges during peak times to park and visit Dinton Pastures and other Countryside Parks. This seems to be at odds with the drive to increase the health of residents through walking?
Just on the ones they have costed and budgeted for that means an extra cost to drivers of over £500K!
