There was a lot going on in Earley and Woodley on Saturday. It was great to be invited to attend Sri Srinivasa Kalyanam in Earley. Where the organisers had laid on a fabulous feast. Some volunteers were up at 3AM preparing the food and getting ready to welcome over a thousand people to the event. It was also a great chance to meet and chat to old friends.
Later in the day I was off to Sonning Show where the PTA had organised a lovely village event, more food laid on by the scouts and ice cream, competitions and some very interesting stalls. Again good opportunity to have chat with residents. It was interesting to understand the possible impact of Labour inheritance tax ideas and investment in rewilding farmland and estates and I also had a good chat at the parish church stand about the history of the parish and some of the people commemorated in the Church, it used to cover part of Earley and I have found one of the previous occupants in my house buried there. We also talked about my Facebook site Earley Remembers which documents my research on people of Earley who served and were killed in World war 1 and 2.
Thoroughly enjoyable.
